New Directory & App for Lakeshore Lutheran Fellowship!

Universal Church Directories will be soon offering professional photo sessions to update our official directory. They will also include a 5-year agreement to include an APP that will be for all members. Each member will receive a unique code to allow access to the APP. Many amazing digital tools will be at our fingertips. Direct links to our website, sermon videos, email directory, church calendar, announcements, prayer requests, giving link, and the professional picture directory. Each member/family unit photographed will also receive a free printed directory. Photo sessions will be the first few days of October. Please watch for sign-up opportunities this September. 

We currently need 4 volunteers to manage & organize the sign-up and photo session check-ins. Universal Church Directories is encouraging volunteers by giving away 4 gift cards (with a value of $100 off your personal photo purchase/package) to those volunteers.

Sunday's Message

Sunday, August 30th, Pastor Chris will continue his series on Answering Difficult Questions. 

"Why?" This is one of the most asked questions when Christians and skeptics consider all the suffering, pain, and tragedy in the world. In fact, unlike many other difficult questions, this is a question that every follower of Jesus will wrestle with at various times in life. We want to know from God why he allows us to experience the hardships we do in our lives. What does he tell us in his Word?

Join us this Sunday as we continue our series, Answering Difficult Questions, with the message, "Why Does a Good God Allow Suffering?" based on Romans 8:18-39. The other Scripture readings are from Job 42:1-6 and Matthew 27:38-50.

Kidz Connection

Kidz Connection meets Sundays for PK-5^th grade following praise songs. Kids should attend worship until the songs are done, then Pastor will release them to join in the ARK for Kidz Connection. (Activity bags are available for kids that want to stay in worship with their families.)

Nursery

Our Nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings. The room is also open for parents to change diapers or to have a place to nurse while still being able to listen to the sermon via the in-room speaker system. TETELESTAI Campaign

Have you heard about the TETELESTAI Campaign going on right now at Lakeshore Lutheran Fellowship? Tetelestai in Greek means "It is finished" and was the final word of Christ when dying on the cross. He completed the work of salvation! We at Lakeshore want to "complete" payment of our mortgage - early! How early? This depends on the extra "blessings" of contributions to this fund. We are now accepting donations marked "Debt Reduction". After the mortgage has been paid off, we will continue the TETELESTAI Campaign thru 2028. This campaign will allow us to invest in much-needed facility improvements; including technology, HVACs and bring our kitchen up to code so we can better serve the community.

Governance Ministry Board meetings

Did you know that our Governance Ministry Board meetings happen monthly on the 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Anyone is welcome to attend a meeting, but you first need to alert the Chairperson, one week prior to the meeting, letting them know what your concerns might be and how much time you may require at the meeting. Fall Harvest Festival 2026

Join us for this Free Community Family Event on Sunday, October 4th from 4-6 pm. There will be food, games, and live music by "The Jess & Mike Duo".  Our church is located at 16790 Van Wagoner Road in Spring Lake, MI 49456. Women's Comedy Event

Ladies, we have an opportunity to see comedian Chonda Pierce at Community Reformed Church in Zeeland, Michigan on Friday, September, 11th!

Women's Fall Retreat

Women of Lakeshore 

Join us for a fun filled local weekend retreat starting on Friday evening, October 23 and continuing through Sunday morning, October 25, with devotionals, crafts, games and amazing Christian fellowship. We need a minimum of 20 women to cover the cost of the facility, which is a beautiful, secluded home in West Olive, MI. The final cost will be determined by the total number of participants. The estimated cost is between $130 to $160 for the entire weekend including all food and crafts.

There is room for up to 24 women to spend the night and plenty of space for more to join if they can only attend the daily activities. Either way, a non-refundable deposit of $100 is due by September 9th with checks made out Lakeshore Lutheran Fellowship (please note: “Women’s Retreat” in the memo). LUTHERAN YOUNG ADULT GATHERING 2027

Joining a Community Group at Lakeshore Lutheran Fellowship is an amazing way to connect with our church family and its community! Many of these groups meet in homes either weekly/bi-monthly/monthly to connect with other Christians, offering a way to meet others, pray for each other and spend time in God’s word together. Men's Huddle - Weekly on Thursdays

Every Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30 am, a great group of guys meet for a time of coffee, fellowship, prayer and projects. They make sure the baptismal font is filled, the candles are set for Sunday, chairs/tables are managed as needed and various other small tasks. Once completed, they meet for a time of fellowship and prayer. This group is open for any man that would like to join. Any questions, please connect with Randy Deater at 616-402-5248.

Men's Prayer Breakfast and Bible Study - Monthly

Meets every second Saturday of the month in the Atrium. Come anytime between 7–7:30 am for breakfast and then 7:30-8:30 am is the study & prayer time. All men are welcome to join Saturday, September 12th! Any questions, please call Randy Deater at 616-402-5248.

Household Necessity Pantry

The Household Necessities Pantry (HNP) giveaways remaining in 2026 will be on Saturdays, October 10 & December 12.
The HNP giveaways help our local community that is in need of personal care items. Please pray for peace for the family & friends of Bob Tosterud (who passed away on August 20th. Funeral was Thursday, August 27th.)

Pray for peace and comfort for Brenda Kling and family as they mourn the passing of her brother-in-law, Al Bosworth, on August 16th.

Eleanor Beuschel asks for prayers covering her knee surgery scheduled for Thursday, the 27th.  We ask for wisdom and skill for the medical team and a complete comfortable healing for Eleanor.

Jen Hayes asks for prayers for recovery from surgery on Tuesday, the 25th and that she can find a job soon after this surgery.

For those currently taking a "required minimum distribution" (RMD), there are added tax benefits.  Starting in 2026, you may make a "qualified charitable distribution" (QCD) of up to $111,000.00 from your IRA and pay ZERO TAX, provided gifts are a direct transfer to Lakeshore Lutheran from your financial institution. These distributions also qualify as part or all of your RMD requirement. They may even lower your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI), which can help avoid higher Medicare Part B premiums and other income-based limits. Our office is collecting your empty ink cartridges and recycling them for savings at a local store. Please help us defray the cost office supplies.
